Job Title: Medical Assistant

Department: Clinical Location: Denver, CO

Wage Range: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour Schedule: Weekdays Only

Western Orthopaedics continues to grow by embracing innovative orthopedic treatments and enhancing systems infrastructure that supports improved operational efficiency. The surgeons have a diverse breadth of experience. Many of Western Orthopaedic’s surgeons have advanced sub-specialty training and pass on their expertise through teaching other surgeons, serving as active members of local and national medical societies, and authoring scientific publications. They are dedicated to improving outcomes through new technologies and techniques.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for providing clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care.

Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinic Operations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
  • Takes patient histories and vital signs.
  • May collect patient specimens.
  • Prepares injections, and applies casts, splints, and dressings, as applicable.
  • Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • Assists physician in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals.
  • Foster relationships with physicians to ensure that processes and communication allow for effective patient satisfaction.
  • Work together as a team of Medical Assistants to maintain tasks are complete for all providers.
  • Send out all diagnostic imaging orders for patients, tracking completion, and ensuring results are received.
  • Completes any duties and special assignments as requested.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • One year of Medical Assisting or other direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

Preferred Skillsets:

  • Demonstrated ability to use a computer with common software products such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of and experience with EHR systems with the ability to be a subject matter expert within the scope of role.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, including physicians, leadership, and staff.
  • Ability to deal calmly and courteously with people.
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations.
  • Ability to finish tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures.
  • Ability to function independently and manage own time and work tasks.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to organize workflow.
  • Ability to perform basic filing, office procedures and word processing.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and develop multiple projects.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member.

  • May include standing, sitting and/or walking for extended periods.
